I had a great conversation with Mari Smith this morning on the phone that I wanted to share.
We were talking about how in the old days of Web 1.0 there was a clear path that you (the business owner/marketer) took people through.
Back in the day when you hand a name squeeze page (opt in page) that lead to a sales letter page for a product to sell. There was a clear path: get the opt in, and then send them email messages driving the user back to your sales letter.
Well, with Web 2.0 that has all changed!
With Facebook, Twitter, Blogging, Email Marketing, websites, etc there is NO CLEAR ORDER ANYMORE
What I mean by that is that people get to know you and find out about you via MANY different ways.
They find your website and opt in
They find your twitter and follow you
They find your blog and read your posts
They find your facebook and write on your wall
Plus, myspace, linked in, Plaxo, etc. There are too many to mention here.
It all goes around in a big circle, without needing a clear order to the path that people take to find out more about you, your business, your passion, your thing.
This has made things MUCH easier for us as marketers and business owners because there is no need to worry about it all.
So go ahead and set up your facebook account (Go to my profile here and request to be friends)
Go ahead and create a twitter account (you can follow me here)
So don’t worry about the order or flow of your marketing, cause with Web 2.0 there is no clear order anymore!
