Business Owners Think Backwards

August 15, 2008 by Christina Hills

Business owners think backwards!  Why ? Because they need to!

What I'm talking about here is that when you set up your website for email marketing, you need to create things in the reverse order of how your prospects opt in.

Here is how your visitor opts in to your Autresponder Series
(single opt in process):

1) Visitor comes to website and sees opt in box, enters their name and email, and clicks the submit button

2) Visitor lands on a 'thank you' page

3) Visitor checks their email, and sees an autoresponder message from you, and now they are in your autoresponder series.

BUT, for you to create that process, you need to work backwards!

Here's how you, the business owner, sets up the Opt in Box:

1) Create your autoresponder series of messages

2) Create you 'thank you' page (or you can use the sytem defaut one that your shopping cart system gives you.  Both 1ShoppingCart/MarketersChoice and Aweber give you a system default 'thank you ' page)

3) Create you opt in box on your website

So when building your website and online store, remember that you need to always think backwards!

This week I'm participating in a panel discussion on selling to your customers with a different approach. Until recently the sales voice of Internet marketing has been dominated by the hard sell, business-to-business folks who promise "insane profits" from "explosive lead generation" created by "killer copy." Major Shopping Cart Change

August 8, 2008 by Christina Hills

There is a new major change to the admin panel inside your shopping cart account.  This change should not affect your website links, it's only an organizational change.

The products menu is now VERY different.  The change is better in that it groups together product options in a more logical way.  So this should make it easier for you to manage your products inside your account.  It also makes sorting your products much easier.

So all the functionality has stayed the same, it's just how the information is organized.

The shopping cart company has prepared a short video for you.  Unfortunately, there is not audio to go with it (just a music sound track).  My guess is that they did this so that the non english speaking people would not feel left out.  There is text explanations that go with the short (under 5 min) video.

You find that by logging into your shopping cart account, and clicking the link under 'Announcements' on the right.

I will review this next week during my Shopping Cart Club Webinar . During that webinar I will answer any questions you may have about these changes.

If you are not a current club member, you can join me here

Questions About Coupons?

July 29, 2008 by Christina Hills

What do you want to know about setting up discounts and coupons for your visitors and customers?
Since the new coupon box was released in the new version of the shopping cart, it now makes it much easier to give out coupons to your people. It's a lot of fun to use, and it encourages people to buy from you.

So, since I'm going to relaunch my "How to Setup Discounts and Coupons" program in the coming weeks, and before I do, I'd like to find out what you want to know about using discounts and coupons with your 1ShoppingCart (Marketers Choice) account.

When you give me your questions, no matter how simple or complicated, I can then find the answers and put it together in my training.

So go ahead and comment here and let me know your thoughts.
