Archive for Products

There is a new major change to the admin panel inside your shopping cart account.  This change should not affect your website links, it's only an organizational change.

The products menu is now VERY different.  The change is better in that it groups together product options in a more logical way.  So this should make it easier for you to manage your products inside your account.  It also makes sorting your products much easier.

So all the functionality has stayed the same, it's just how the information is organized.  (some of my screen shots for my training programs will need to be redone)

The shopping cart company has prepared a short video for you.  Unfortunately, there is not audio to go with it (just a music sound track).  My guess is that they did this so that the non english speaking people would not feel left out.  There is text explanations that go with the short (under 5 min) video.

You find that by logging into your shopping cart account, and clicking the link under 'Announcements' on the right.

I will review this next week during our club call

Here is a question from John:

Question: "If you want to give out a free MP3 (audio) as an incentive to opt in to your list, how do you send them a free download button to place where your file is uploaded on shoppingcart's system without having to direct them to a order form where they have to fill out more than just their name and email address."

Answer: If you want to give a free digital product, either an audio or a pdf, etc. You can use the shopping cart's digital download feature (you must be on the pro package).

However, if you do, then you would be sending the person to an order form. If you make it a $0 priced product, then this order form would NOT ask for credit card info. See this page for an example: http://www.ShoppingCartQueen.com/hookup

If you do NOT want to send the person to that kind of page, then you would need to upload the digital file on your server, and then create a page on your website or blog that takes them to that page.

Go to www.OperaDepot.com for an example of a website giving a digital download with just an opt in asking for name and email.

I got this question from a club member:

Question: "Does the Shopping Cart allow you to $0 Trials Offers for recurring products?"

Answer:

The answer is yes, but.

Yes, you can have a $0 priced product that is a trial product, and have that convert to a paying product when the trial is over.

The problem is that the shopping cart will not verify the credit card if all the items in the order add up to $0. If that is the case, it will skip over the authorization process.

If your $0 priced product is part of a bundle, then you are fine, because the cart will check the customers credit card on the other products in the bundle.

If you want a trial product as the ONLY thing in the checkout process, then I would make your trial product $1 (or even 25cents). That way the credit card is checked for accuracy, but still to the customer it's practically free.

International Shipping Orders

Posted by: Christina Hills | Comments (0)

If you ship international orders for physical products then you will want to read this tip!

This tip will help you avoid the problem of international people not choosing the correct shipping amount.

Has this ever happened to you?

It's happened to me multiple times, but if you take 5 min and make this change in your account, you will avoid the international orders problem in the future.

You need to specify an international shipping drop down for people outside of your country.

First go to Cart Setup –> Advanced and set the "Show International Designation Option on Shipping Table" to Yes

international shipping setting

Then go to Product –> Setup Shipping and when you click through to your shipping table select the International Box

See picture below:

Now when your international customers are on your order form, they will ONLY have the choice of international shipping, and thereby save you headaches of trying to contact the customer for additional funds.
