The Shopping Cart Won't Accept Orders from Certain Countries
Posted by: | CommentsQuestion: Laura Jo asks: "We continue to have problems accepting international orders, mainly Canada. Customers complain that they won't accept the postal code and that they can only select from US states. Is there something that hasn't been setup correctly in the Shopping Cart?"
Answer: If a country isn't included in the drop down list in the order form, the country may have been designated as "excluded" in the cart.
To check this, go to "Products –> Set up Shipping" and use the link in the second section "Setup Ship-To Countries" to view the list.
If no countries appear in the excluded list, the cart will allow purchases from all countries. If the customer's country appears in the list and there are issues with address or postal code fields, this may be due to settings in the Gateway.
Note that you can also use this to ban certain countries
The 'Continue Shopping' Button
Posted by: | CommentsQuestion: "On the checkout page there is a button that reads *continue shopping*. Where in the product set-up do I put the link that will take the customer back to the site?"
Answer:
You will find that in 'Setup' –> 'Orders' and you will see a field called 'Catalog URL' that is the location that the person goes when they click 'Continue Shopping'
However, you can change that on a product by product basis.
Go into your products, edit one of your products, and down towards the bottom you will see a 'Destination URL' field.
Put the location of the place you would like your customers to go when they click 'Continue Shopping' for that product.
I generally put in 'BACK' (without the quotes) so the customer goes back to the last web page they came from.
New "Expanded" Order Forms
Posted by: | CommentsOn June 5th 2008, the Shopping Cart company released it's new shopping cart "Expanded" order form. It's expanded because it combines the "Shopping Cart" (View Cart) page with the "Check Out" (Order Form) into one place.
The old "Default" way the customer would go in a 2 step process from the
shopping cart page to the checkout page, if you use the regular buy link.
Or they could go straight to the checkout page if you use the one click buy link. This one click buy link, does not show the line items of the products that they have purchased.
Here is what that looks like with the old "Default" Way:

Check Out Page:

The new "Expanded" method the customer would just go straight to the Checkout Page either your buy links will still work, but it is recommended that you use the One Click buy link for the expanded Method.

Intensive Webinar Workshop Next Week
Posted by: | CommentsClick to listen to this message:
I just got back from the System Seminar in Chicago where I presented my new Virtual Webinar Workshop.
I have a few slots left, and I want to open it up to club members first before sending an announcement to my whole list.
The workshop is going to take people through building a Wordpress website and hooking up the autoresponders, product
sales, free teleseminars, etc to it.
We will be using Aweber and 1ShoppingCart(MarketersChoice) for the autoresponders, and Wordpress.org for the website creation.
The workshop will be 6 ninety minute webinars, plus 2 follow up webinars one month after the course.
Plus, you will get a Wordpress blog from me to use as your 'playground' testing blog.
The dates for the webinars are June 9, 16, 23,24,25, and 31st
at 1pm Eastern.
The follow up webinars will be one in July and one in August.
The cost is $697 for the whole course (big savings over the
$997 normal price, and my consulting rate of $300 an hour)
Plus it will include my 'Shopping Cart Secrets' course as a bonus!
This class is so new, that I do not have a sales letter page for it.
I only have a few slots left, so if you are interested then
go here to get registered
See you in the workshop!
p.s. I will be closing registrations this week, so if you are interested then register now.
