Question:

How can you tell who is considered a customer? Thanks a bunch!
Melanie

Answer:

To see if an individual is a customer, search by email name or address, and locate the client record.

The "Client Type" will be listed on the left side of the screen under the Name and Date the record was created.

You can also go to Clients – Search, Edit, Add. Under the Specific Search Options, change the drop down list for Client Type to "Customer" and click the Search button.

Note that if a person signs up for your affiliate program, their status changes to 'affiliate' and you do NOT know that they were also a customer.  This is why I recommend having a 'Customers of  XXX' as an autoresponder, and putting that under your Setup–> Orders –> Default Autoresponder

Then when a customer buys, they will always be added to that Autoresponder list, and you will always see that they were a customer of yours

Question from Debra:
"My question is what software do you use (or recommend for a membership site) and do you teach or support how to integrate that into the shoppingcart system? Thanks again for all you share with us!"

Answer: Yes!
I have a training program to connect the aMember software with your 1ShoppingCart account.
It's called www.ShoppingCartMemberships.com
It lets you control each member with their own login and password.
This Club uses the aMember software to control all the members.
aMember is a one time fee, and you install it on your servers. It gives you total control of how your membership site looks.

Question from Cathy:

"I have a million questions. But my first question is what we can do with those hard bounces once we determine they are no longer useful or any good. Can we just delete them from the cart and free up space for more customers? If they happen to be old and have ordered a product in the past then will they not delete? I want to scrub our cart of all the old stuff we don't need and clear out the people that don't get our emails. They are just taking up space. However, I am afraid that if I delete a person that has ordered something then we won't have a record of that. I don't know if the cart has a safety that won't allow us to delete people who have placed orders.

Thank You,
Cathy Moody

Answer:

It is OK to delete the person who's email has bounced, but for a customer I would not recommend it.

If that customer is on a recurring product, then the recurring order will fail.
If the customer email bounces, then they will be on the 'ineligible to recieve email' list, and will not get any emails
from you.

If you want to clean your list of prospects, then I'd go ahead and do that and get rid of the bad email addresses.

Today the shopping cart company will be making a modification to the recurring billing system that will enhance the way you manage your client’s subscription services with you.

The change that we have made now allows you to edit a customer’s credit card information directly within each customer’s recurring events as opposed to the Recurring Summary Page. This means that for customers who have multiple recurring events, you can now edit or enter their credit card details on a per product basis instead of being limited to one credit card being entered for all recurring products that any customer may have.

To modify a customer’s credit card on a recurring product, simply click the Edit link beside the recurring event from the Recurring Orders page.
