Archive for Discount & Coupons

There is a new major change to the admin panel inside your shopping cart account.  This change should not affect your website links, it's only an organizational change.

The products menu is now VERY different.  The change is better in that it groups together product options in a more logical way.  So this should make it easier for you to manage your products inside your account.  It also makes sorting your products much easier.

So all the functionality has stayed the same, it's just how the information is organized.  (some of my screen shots for my training programs will need to be redone)

The shopping cart company has prepared a short video for you.  Unfortunately, there is not audio to go with it (just a music sound track).  My guess is that they did this so that the non english speaking people would not feel left out.  There is text explanations that go with the short (under 5 min) video.

You find that by logging into your shopping cart account, and clicking the link under 'Announcements' on the right.

I will review this next week during our club call

I just discovered a big glitch with coupons that I wanted to pass onto you.

The glitch happens when you have bundle offers and you are using coupons.

(If you don't use bundled offers with coupons then no worries)

So here is the scoop:If you have bundled offers, and if you give a coupon to your customers, then your customers may not get the bonus items in your bundle.

You will know this is so, if you look at your orders and you see the other products missing in the order from your customer.

They may also be missing from the autoresponders of the bonus items in your bundle.

This glitch only happens with coupons and bundles.

I called the Shopping Cart Company and they are working on resolving the problem.

I wanted to make you aware of this, so that you can go back in to your orders, and add your customers to any autoresponders they may have missed.

Cool Coupon Trick!

Posted by: Christina Hills | Comments (0)

In creating a coupon for the club to come to Module1 Teleseminar of Shopping Cart Secrets, I discovered a cool coupon trick with the new shopping cart coupons feature. (side note: if you have bundled offers, and you want to give a coupon, you must use an order based coupon) If you want to have a link that a person clicks that will drop the coupon into their shopping cart, instead of them having to enter the coupon, you can do that.

Here are the steps:

1) create an Ad Tracker (you can have the destination URL go anywhere you want it to go. i.e. the sales letter, or the order form) Once created you will get an adTracker link like this:  http://www.on2url.com/app/adtrack.asp?MerchantID=53948&AdID=369623

2) create a coupon and give it the coupon code the adtracker id. For example in the ad tracker above give it: 369623

3) you are now done with that coupon, and all you need to do is to give out the link for the ad tracker.

When the customer clicks on the link, it will drop the coupon code into their basket, so they do NOT have to enter it manually. Sweet! (side note: if you have bundled offers, and you want to give a coupon, you must use an order based coupon)

Product Categories and Coupons

Posted by: Christina Hills | Comments (1)

With the new coupon feature of the shopping cart, the product categories now have more meaning.

You can create a coupon that applies to a product category.

So, say you want to have a coupon just for your e-books, you can create a product category for ebooks!

Or say you want to have a coupon for a joint venture partner, you can put your products in a joint venture product category.

Now it gets even more fun!

If you have a category for books, and then under that a category for ebooks and hard cover books (they are the children of books) you can have 3 coupons for each of those categories.

I have not yet tried this, but am looking forward to experimenting with it.

Give me your comments on how this is working for you in the comments section of this post.

Before, product categories were just for organizational purposes, but now they have more meaning.
