2 Cool Tools to Improve Your Website

July 23, 2008 by Christina Hills

I learned about 2 cool new tools when I went to  the podcasting conference in Boston this past weekend.

(I'm doing my summer East Coast trip that I do every year to visit family and friends in my old stomping grounds: Boston and New York).

So, I wanted to pass on to you these 2 resources that can help you improve your online website/business.

And the best part about them is that they are both free!

WebsiteGrader.com

website optimizer

The first one is http://www.WebsiteGrader.com

You just put in your website name, and it gives your site a grade, PLUS it tells you how to improve your site.

 BrowserShots.org

browser shots

The second one is http://www.BrowserShots.org

You put in your website, and it gives you a screenshot of what you website looks like in many different browsers.

I had been looking for a resource for this for a while, so I want to thank Chris Penn for letting me know about it.

New Features of Wordpress 2.6

July 16, 2008 by Christina Hills

The new version of Wordpress 2.6 came out this week and has some cool new features.

For me the biggest one is the fact that Wordpress now saves your revisions of your posts.  So you can go back to earlier versions of your posts.  This is VERY helpful if you are editing your posts and you make a mistake.  You can go back to an earlier version.

Plus this is helpful if multiple people are working on your blog/website.

Here's a short video explaining the new features.
The  biggest one is that you can go back to your old revisions.
I'm going to wait a bit before upgrading any of my blogs.  I like the dust to settle first whenever there is a new version of something is released.

Watch this short 3 min video of the new Wordpress 2.6 features

Get Leverage with Yourself!

June 26, 2008 by Christina Hills

Many people talk about outsourcing and getting leverage. They talk about hiring others to do the work for you. Outsourcing is a great idea, and I encourage people go hire a good Virtual Assistant who can help you with your business.

But people don't talk about getting leverage with yourself!

What I mean by that, is if you do something, do it again and again!

If you promote a product, promote it again!

If you run a coupon special , run a similar coupon special again!

If you do a teleseminar, do the same teleseminar again!

If you run a coaching program series, run the series again!

The first time you do anything, it will take you a while to build and create. So leverage yourself by doing it multiple times!

That way you get leverage with yourself!

For example, I'm teaching a new course on how to create your own website using wordpress. It's a small workshop and I'm having a great time with my students. I'm learning a lot about how to teach this material SO….I'm going to offer the course again in the Fall!

People, myself included, are always looking for the latest 'new thing' to do on the internet, and forget to polish and improve the thing you got.

So look at your products, courses, promotions and figure out how you can do the same thing again, and get leverage with yourself!
